798 International Art Season | Spanish Guitar Quartet Performs the Art of Summer

On July 27th, the internationally renowned Spanish ensemble "Cuarteto de Guitarras de Andalucía" gathered at Beijing's 798·751 Art Zone, delivering an authentic and passionate guitar performance. Through their interpretation of "Visiones de España" (Visions of Spain), they painted Beijing's midsummer with vibrant strokes of Southern European charm.

The concert was co-organized by 798 WENKE and the Cervantes Institute of Spain. Attendees included Isabel Cervera, Director of the Cervantes Institute; Carmen Pastor, Academic Director; Yang Jinwei, Deputy General Manager of Beijing 798 Culture Technology Co., Ltd.; as well as Chinese and Spanish dignitaries and cultural enthusiasts.


Yang Jinwei, Deputy General Manager of 798 WENKE, extended a warm welcome to the guests and expressed his gratitude. In his speech, he noted: "As an international art destination, 798's collaboration with the Cervantes Institute for this concert is a significant step in promoting cultural exchange between China and Spain." He reflected, "Since the strategic partnership between 798 WENKE and the Cervantes Institute began in August last year, the two sides have jointly hosted a series of diverse cultural events, including the 'Mujeres de Seda' concert, the 'Empty Sounds, Human Echoes' portrait photography exhibition of Eastern musicians, and the 'Antonio López and the Masters of Spanish Realism' art exhibition. Moving forward, the 798·751 Art Zone will continue to foster cultural dialogue through even more diverse initiatives, allowing global art to converge here, spark new inspirations, and create richer cultural experiences and captivating artistic moments for visitors from around the world."

Carmen Pastor, Academic Director of the Cervantes Institute, addressed the audience, introducing the concert’s theme, Visions of Spain. She explained that the performance featured iconic works by Spanish and Latin American composers, seamlessly blending traditional essence with masterful technique, offering Chinese audiences a rare opportunity to experience the rich harmonies of classical guitar quartets.


The four musicians of the ensemble are not only performers but also educators, long dedicated to preserving Spanish musical traditions while advancing contemporary creations. Their repertoire centers on works rooted in Spain and its cultural sphere. For their China tour, the group specially presented classics such as El Corregidor y la Molinera (from the ballet El Sombrero de Tres Picos) by Manuel de Falla and Cuatro Canciones Populares Españolas.
