Zachary Armstrong：Bag of Candles

Zachary Armstrong's works are well known for their highly recognizable visual characteristics and the use of media. As one of the main mediums of his creation, "wax" is not only the material composition of Armstrong's sculptures, but is also skillfully used in the creation of paintings.In his first solo exhibition in China, Armstrong showed his newly created works in diverse forms including installations, paintings, and sculptures. Whether it is the installation of the "Encaustic House", or the Tyrannosaurus skull sculpture, or the four large-scale paintings drawn with the "wax color technique", these works are a mixture of the artist’s childhood memories, pop culture and art history elements. The author provided a series of visual images with rich information.

The exhibition "World on a Wire" that is being held at the Hyundai Motorstudio Beijing continues the characteristics of multiple cross-border and technological elements embodied in many exhibitions of the institution. Taking the "model" technology as the entry point, the exhibition intends to highlight the contingency and subjectivity of this practice method in the creation.This exhibition presents the works of more than ten artists (groups) from China and other countries. The artists used many techniques including 3D printing, optical technology, virtual reality and augmented reality, and demonstrated the possibility of "model" as a visual technology from different angles. These works not only suggest the relationship between reality and reproduction, but also prompt us to observe virtual technology and the objective world as a whole.

Befor Light in Motion: Exhibition of Film Storyboard Manuscript

The Part 1 mainly presents the pre-work content of the wonderful shots through the display of the art manuscripts of the shots, as well as the video reproduction and scene restoration of the classic movie scenes. In the Part 2, one of the representative works of Chinese animation in recent years, "Big Fish & Begonia" is the object of observation, showing the details of animation film production through many materials and fragments.Focusing on the Part 3 of Chinese-language movies, taking the works of film art designer Lai Pan as a case, the situational atmosphere setting with oriental aesthetics is analyzed from "Rouge" and "Lust, Caution". The fourth part focus on the works of young directors. In addition, the exhibition has also set up an interactive and excellent film screening section, providing audiences with an opportunity to experience film art and behind-the-scenes production in an all-round way.

Echoes of the Times

As a new year special exhibition of Daqian Contemporary Art Center, "Echoes of the Times" is composed of more than 30 ink works selected from its collection. The artists are all representative masters of traditional Chinese painting in the 20th century. Through these works, it reflects the different aspects and spiritual directions of ink and wash creation in an era.While presenting the works, the exhibition also opened up a "Xuan Paper Wall" section to introduce various types of Chinese painting paper, revealing the relationship between medium development and painting creation. In the public education area, the exhibition combines several manuscripts of the artist He Haixia with a light box installation, allowing the audience to view traditional works in another way in an interactive way.
